Buchanan Architects is a full-service architecture, planning and urban design firm that has extensive experience with a broad range of projects. We are committed to providing the best possible design service and solutions for a diverse clientele. Our designs reflect the clients' specific needs and desires and the distinct character of each community. They are responsive to particular site and climate conditions and make use of both traditional and new technologies for energy efficiency and conservation. This approach has resulted in award winning design solutions.

Buchanan Architects welcomes the collaborative design process with professionals and clients. Our experience has shown that this inclusive process brings about innovative and unique solutions that are responsive to program, budget and environmental concerns. Design solutions gained through this process enrich the surrounding context and create places of interest and value for people. As design consultants, we have enjoyed successful collaborations with clients, communities, artists, landscape architects, planners, architects, and engineers.

From the small to the large, design projects that have the potential to improve people's lives, enhance communities and protect the environment interest us. Our recent and current work include studies for the reuse and revitalization of approximately 200,000 square feet of aging concrete structures on the Bayer HealthCare World Headquarters campus in Berkeley, a senior friendly housing project, and a single family home.

Previously a Principal Partner of Lyndon/Buchanan Associates, Marvin Buchanan, FAIA, has recently established Buchanan Architects. His work has received international recognition through publications in Italy, France, Great Britain, and Japan, and has earned numerous American Institute of Architects Honor Awards at the national, state and local levels. AnRa Hong Buchanan, AIA, brings to the firm experience with award winning arts, educational, and community projects.
